C-Sharp Programming Support  Needed in Woods Hole

 

 

Integrated Statistics is looking for someone to work with NOAA in Woods Hole providing assistance in the development of data collection systems for at-sea collection of biological and catch data. In support of the Northeast Fisheries Science Center’s (NEFSC) mission to “Conduct ecosystem-based research and assessments of living marine resources,” Data Management Systems (DMS) of the NEFSC has a need for assistance in the development of software to facilitate the electronic collection and transmittal of data collected by the following programs:

 

1.      At-Sea-Monitoring of catch data in support of sector monitoring requirements in Amendment 16 to the Northeast Multispecies Fishery Management Plan.

 

2.      The collection of data by Northeast Fisheries Observer Program (NEFOP) as required by the region's fishery management plans, and other federal laws and authorities such as the Marine Mammal Protection Act, the Endangered Species Act, the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, and the Sustainable Fisheries Act.

 

3.      Other at-sea software applications developed to electronically, collect, store and edit a variety of fisheries and mammal data in real time for use on NOAA research vessels and related chartered research vessels.

 

We are looking for an individual to work in coordination with existing DMS staff to further develop computer software for the collection of data at sea. A number of mission critical tasks require ongoing programmer support. These tasks include:

 

1.      Continued development of software to be used by at-sea-monitors to collect biological and catch data elements required by Amendment 16 to the Northeast Multispecies Fishery Management Plan.

 

2.      Continued development of software to by used by NEFOP observers to collect biological and catch data elements required by the region's fishery management plans.

 

3.      Continued development of software applications to electronically, collect, store and edit a variety of fisheries and mammal data collected on-board NOAA and chartered research vessels.

 

 

Required Skills: 

Excellent programming skills, including experience with C#, Microsoft Visual Studio, and its associated tools.

            Knowledge and experience with relational databases, including the MySQL and the Oracle relational database systems.

            Demonstrated experience in developing client application in .NET for the Windows family of operating systems.

            Demonstrated experience in developing graphical user interfaces for data entry system including .NET Rich Client technologies such as Windows Forms or Windows Presentation Foundation.

 

Compensation:  $30/hour + benefits including health, dental, retirement plans, paid vacation, sick, and federal holiday leave
