Integrated Statistics is looking for a Microsoft Certified
Technology Specialist (MCTS) or a Microsoft Certified Information Technology
Professional (MCITP) to assist the Network Administrators at the National
Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries
Service (NMFS), Northeast Fisheries Science Center’s (NEFSC), Data Management
System (DMS) group to help with the implementation of Active Directory (AD)
infrastructure to support all microcomputers
which are within the boundary of the NEFSC local area networks. The MS
Certified specialist would also coordinate the implementation of Active
Directory with the NOAA/NMFS Security team so as to met Department of Commerce
and NOAA and NMFS security requirements.
The Active Directory infrastructure would also be used to support
portable PCs which are deployed in the field to support Observer data
collection initiatives to support sector management. The person hired will work cooperatively with
NEFSC information technology staff, the Data Management Systems (DMS) staff to
complete all tasks. We are looking for someone to work full
time employee with NEFSC’s Data Management Systems (DMS) and the Fisheries Sampling
Branch (FSB) to setup and configure hardware and software and to complete the Active
Directory configuration of Information technology (IT) equipment. The technician is needed to supplement
NOAA/DMS staff and to meet the requirements for Active Directory deployment at
the NEFSC. NMFS sets the policies and
procedures and each Financial Management Center (FMC) is required to implement
Active Directory in a timely fashion and in accordance with the NMFS Active
Directory infrastructure plan. DMS sets the
requirements for AD configuration and deployment according to NOAA and NMFS
standards.
Specific Tasks:
The individual shall provide technical guidance and support for the setup and configuration of Windows 2008 servers and assist the Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC) network administrators with Active Directory implementation for microcomputers on the NEFSC networks. Specific duties will include:
1. Work cooperatively with the DMS system administrators to setup Windows servers according to the guidance and configuration standards provided. This includes installing Windows Server 2008 and installing and configuring roles and features. Provide guidance to NEFSC network team on requirements to keep the system security up to date. Document system configuration for NEFSC network configuration management plan.
2. Provide guidance and expertise to setup, configure and deploy the local Active Directory domain controller to host the AD as required by the NEFSC and in accordance with the standard protocols and rights provided and/or delegated by NMFS Active Directory Domain Administrator. Assist NEFSC network administrators to create user accounts and groups. Automate object creation and configuration with VBScript and AD Service Interface. Document all processes and procedures.
3. Assist the NEFSC network administrators to manage the Windows 2008 servers. Task include but may not be limited to defining, documenting and implementing the methods and procedures for analyzing and centralizing the event logs, managing disk space and server backup and restoration.
4. Assist the NEFSC network team with configuring PC to meet the requirements of the AD domain controller. This includes, but is not limited to, assisting with changes to PCs to meet the naming and deployment standards for NMFS Active Directory deployment.
