Integrated Statistics is looking for an individual to work with USGS in Woods Hole providing support for sediment transport model development, documentation, verification, and applications.
We are looking for an individual to work with the oceanography and sediment transport group at the Coastal and Marine Science Center at USGS in Woods Hole, MA. This group carries out investigations of sediment transport in the coastal ocean, and develops, verifies, applies, and distributes numerical algorithms of sediment transport processes. We seek an applicant to assist in model development, application, verification, and data distribution. The applicant must have an undergraduate degree in science or engineering; an M.S. or equivalent work experience in oceanography, atmospheric, earth or environmental sciences; and demonstrated successful experience in application or development of numerical models. The applicant must have proven expertise in Matlab and preferably Fortran. Experience with Python, Java, parallel programming, model coupling, and using ocean or wave models (ROMS, SWAN, or similar) is a plus.
Example tasks include:
Facilitate development and implementation of sediment-transport routines
· Work with PIs to edit, compile and test Fortran code (for example bed model, cohesive bed model, flocculation model)
· Work with PIs to develop and document test cases
· Work w/ ROMS administrator to implement routines for source distribution
Assist PIs in set up and running model applications
· Develop grids and assemble forcing files for model runs
· Oversee model runs and archive of model output
· Assist in model verification
· Assist in visualization and analysis of results
Develop and implement standard-based strategies for data analysis and sharing
· Develop and maintain standards-based Matlab tools for data analysis and visualization
